Facebook, Twitter and Google can stop working in Hong Kong

American Facebook, Twitter and Google companies reported that they can stop their activities in Hong Kong because of the plans of the city’s authorities about the protection of personal data. Corporations expressed concern that in the case of an expansion interpretation of amendments to their publication may be subject to sanctions.

“For technological companies, the only way to avoid such sanctions will be a refusal to invest and provide services in Hong Kong,” the letter is noted to refer to the Wall Street Journal newspaper.

Hong Kong returned to China from the UK in 1997.
