Iran to reconcile Syria and Turkey

Foreign Minister Iran Hosein Amir Abdollahiyan arrived on Saturday with an official visit to Syria, during which he held negotiations with President Bashar Assad.

Al Ekhbariya, the Iranian Foreign Minister told reporters at Damascus Airport that Tehran “seeks to improve relations between Syria and Turkey by establishing a dialogue.”

“We see our task in preventing the emergence of a crisis and trying to advance to peace, stability and security, overcoming the existing disagreements between the two states that maintain close ties with Iran,” said the Iranian Minister.

According to him, Tehran treats with understanding of the concern and fears of Turkey about the situation in the north of Syria. “However, we are categorically against the military operation and we will try to resolve the issue with diplomatic funds,” he said.
