(AA) – within the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, concluded on July 22, 2022, with the mediation of Turkey and the UN, 24 million tons of agricultural products were exported from the ports of Ukraine. This was reported on Tuesday, March 14 at the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.
Grain from Ukrainian ports is safe and security delivered to the addresses countries, the department said.
The Ministry of Defense noted that in accordance with the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and with the aim of successful implementation of a grain transaction, the head of the Turkish defense department, Hulushi Akar, continues contacts with colleagues from the Russian Federation and Ukraine. The dialogue is carried out along the line of other instances.
In this case, it is indicated to the positive reaction of the parties to the intermediary initiative of Ankara. “The Turkish Republic will continue the steps aimed at providing peace and supplying humanitarian aid in the region,” the department emphasized.
Deputy Heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko on Tuesday, March 14, said that Moscow extended a grain transaction for a period of 60 days.
On the eve of negotiations in Geneva, Moscow announced its readiness to support the initiative to extend the agreement for 60 days if sufficient progress is reached in the assistance of exporting food and fertilizers from the Russian Federation to international markets.
