The premium segment accounted for only 5% of all cars sold in Russia last month, against traditional 9-10%, the Kommersant newspaper.
As notes, according to the results of May, 1.5 thousand new premium cars were sold in the country, which is 89% less than a year earlier, and 45% less than in the previous month. At the same time, the basis of the segment was the German Mercedes-Benz and BMW, other European brands, as well as the Japanese Lexus, Korean Genesis and General Motors (GM).
Earlier, the Committee of Automobile Producers of the European Business Association (AEB) calculated that sales of new cars and light commercial (LCV) cars in Russia fell in April 2022 by 83.5% in annual comparison (after a drop in 78.5% in April and 62.9% in March) up to 24.268 thousand units. In January -May of this year, sales were reduced by 52% in an annual comparison – to 318.114 thousand cars
Already hundreds of foreign companies, including manufacturers of famous world automobile brands, announced temporary or complete “care” from the Russian market.
