Kazakhstan President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev accepted on Saturday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain James Cleverly, the press service of the Kazakh leader reports.
During the meeting, the prospects of further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment and humanitarian spheres were discussed.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized that the current visit of the British Minister is of great importance from the point of view of the further development of cooperation between the two countries, in addition, the visit is an important event of a regional scale.
”Your visit will give a significant impulse to further strengthen mutual cooperation between Kazakhstan and Great Britain,” said the president
Tokaev noted the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral relations.
“I want to give my personal assessment to our cooperation as a very successful one, especially in the field of economics, as well as in the political sphere. We need to make additional efforts to promote this very positive direction in our interaction,” the president said.

During the conversation, Tokaev also invited the head of the British government to visit Kazakhstan at any time convenient for him.
In turn, James Cleverly noted the positive dynamics of contacts between Astana and London. According to him, Great Britain positively evaluates political reforms carried out in Kazakhstan.
“Your country is our main trading partner in the region. We see good opportunities for working together in order to carry out economic growth plans that you have. I think that the program of reforms in the field of taxation will help strengthen mutually beneficial economic relations”, – said the British minister.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.
, as part of his visit to Kazakhstan, James Cleverly also met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko.
Vasilenko said that about 550 British companies are currently operating in the Kazakhstan market.
“For its part, Kazakhstan intends to increase export to the British market by more than $ 750 million,” said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In turn, the UK Foreign Minister announced his readiness to help Kazakhstan in maintaining the Middle Corridor project in order to find alternative ways to export Kazakhstani products.
In addition, Cleverly praised Kazakhstan’s support in relation to the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“UK highly appreciates the constant and fundamental position of Kazakhstan in supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine and your desire to put an end to this war in accordance with the UN Charter,” he said.
