14th plenary session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly takes place in Baku

The 14th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) is taking place in Baku.

The work of the session, the topic of which – “Strengthening regional cooperation in the name of sustainable development in Asia”, parliamentary delegations of almost 40 countries take part, including speakers of parliament of about 10 countries.

The agenda of the plenary session includes the elections of the APA Bureau, the approval of the transfer of the chairmanship in the organization of Azerbaijan, the reporting report of the chairman of the executive council, approval of the candidacy of the next vice-presidents of the APA, the submission of the observer status in APA and other issues.

The Secretary General of Apa Mohammed Reza Majidi, speaking at the plenary session, said that serious challenges were facing the regional and international organization. He expressed confidence that, under the chairmanship of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, the Asian parliamentary assembly in the next two years would succeed.

Majidi said he supported the chairmanship of Azerbaijan, and emphasized that the organization is committed to this decision.

At the 14th Parliamentary Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), the chairmanship in the organization was transferred from Turkey to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan will preside in the Asian parliamentary assembly in 2024-2025.
