8 years in prison because of 2 million Tagi Akhmedova

The appeal of the verdict in the case of Saadat Khalilov, accused of fraud against Deputy Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (Nana) Professor Soltan Aliyeva, was considered.

About this haqqın.az reported the lawyer of the accused, Hafiz Aleskerov. According to the report, the decision was announced by the Baku Court of Appeal under the chairmanship of the judge Zaki Babaev. The sentence of Saadat Khalilov is reduced by 1 year – up to 8 years.

According to the indictment, Saadat Khalilov, Gul Mukhtarov and Sahil Abushev were assigned 2 million manat owned by Soltan Aliyev. Although Saadat Khalilov was detained, the other two defendants were free during the trial. They were put on the wanted list. The criminal case of the hum of Mukhtarov and Sakhil Abushev was separated from the case of Saadat Khalilov.

Khalilov was charged under article 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Although Soltan Aliyev was recognized as the victims in the criminal case, Khalilov said that 2 million manat at interest was allocated by the former head of the Baku metro Taga Akhmedov. The Baku court for serious crimes found Saadat Khalilov guilty and sentenced him to 9 years in prison.
