Aliyev: astronautical congress contributes to development of space industry in Azerbaijan

74th International Astronautical Congress, held on October 2 in Baku, will contribute to the development of the space industry, advanced technologies and its modernization in Azerbaijan.

This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during a speech at the opening ceremony of the 74th International Astronautical Congress.

The Head of State noted that modernization reflects the vision, agenda and plans of Azerbaijan for the future.

“During the period of independence, Azerbaijan became an active member of the international community. Our policy has always been clear, transparent and unambiguous, served to win friends and strengthen cooperation,” he stressed.

According to the president, for more than 10 years Azerbaijan has been a member of the International Space Club. “Today, our country owns two telecommunications satellites and one satellite to monitor the surface of the earth,” he said.

The head of state said that Azerbaijan continues to develop this sphere in Azerbaijan.

Aliyev noted that as an active member of the International Community, Azerbaijan takes part in various programs of political, economic and regional development.

In addition, according to the leader, Azerbaijan, being a reliable supplier, transports energy to international markets.

“If you get acquainted with today’s energy and transport cards, including pipelines, then you will see a trace of Azerbaijan everywhere. We initiated a number of projects and successfully implemented them together with our partners. Thereby we ensured the energy security not only of our region, but also a more extensive region as a whole, ”said Aliyev.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that today energy security is equated with the issue of national security of each country and is its important element.
