American experts: Russia pretends that there is no counterattack of Ukraine

The Ukrainian counterattack in the Kherson region was limited and unsuccessful, so the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the evening of August 29, setting the tone for subsequent discussions in the Russian media space, the American Institute for Studying War (ISW) says.

The Russian department claims that Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses in manpower and technology after an unsuccessful attempt to advance in three unidentified directions in the Kherson region. Following the Russian Ministry of Defense, the authorities and pro -Russian bloggers and pro -Russian bloggers were seized with similar statements. These dismissive statements indicate that the Kremlin seeks to maintain the visibility of the great military successes of Russia in Ukraine, according to ISW.

In the meantime, Russian and Western sources claim that Ukrainian troops liberated five settlements during the first day of the counterattack and at least one of the sections of the front advanced 5-6 kilometers.

The Russian army is trying to restore the destroyed bridges through the Dnieper and transferred new equipment for Kherson through a pontoon crossing, but this supply line is vulnerable to air force, American experts write.
