Arctic Scientific Research Expedition Of Turkey Reached 82 Degrees Northern Latitude

The team of the National Arctic Scientific Research Expedition (TASE-V), organized this year for the 5th time under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey during the coordination of the Institute of Polar Research Tübi̇tak Mam (Kare), reached the marine ice line located at 82 degrees of the world.

with the participation of 9 Turkish and 3 foreign scientists, 19 projects were implemented to select sedimentary and water samples in the field of atmospheric dynamics, GNSS and marine sciences. In this context, the purpose of the project is to contribute to the literature by identifying the influence of climate change in the northern latitudes as a result of meteorological measurements and test analysis.

A scientific group will continue to work on priority scientific topics, such as global climate change, ecosystems, which are at risk of disappearance, and anthropogenic effects that are of national and international significance within the framework of the “national polar scientific strategy”. This year, like every year, the expedition is carried out in accordance with updated environmental protocols with minimal environmental impact.

The team conducting scientific research on the 44-meter ship “Sola” under the flag of Vanuatu arrived at the line of sea ice in 400 sea miles from Longirbuen and conducted its research at the sampling points in this area.

weather conditions this year are more difficult than usual

The head of the 5th National Arctic Scientific Research Expedition, Captain Dogach Baibars Yshyler, said that they completed the work at about 20 sampling points:

“In the process of work due to difficult weather and marine conditions, we had to abandon some sampling points and, instead of some sampling points, add other sampling points in the fjord. In the end, the last word in the polar conditions in Antarctica and the Arctic always remains behind the weather. This year weather conditions were more difficult than usual. To be able to adapt to more difficult conditions, we are here to be here to be here to be here to be here to be here to be here to be here to be here. To fulfill our tasks in order to conduct our scientific research in the best way, to the greatest extent, as much as the weather allows, developing solutions. “

noting that work on a deck in the open sea is very complex and even impossible because of the wind and waves, the captain emphasized the importance of the safety of scientists.

According to him, they conducted research to spend the time most effectively, having determined new samples of sampling instead of those that they refused.
