Armen Sargsyan has found citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis

The President of Armenia Armen Sargsyan found the citizenship of the small Caribbean State of Saint Kitts and Nevis, the edition of Hetq.am reports this.

The publication notes that Sargsyan in his statement noted several reasons for resignation, but they have a little attitude to real reasons. The real basis for care was the presence of citizenship of another country, at least before the election by the President.

In particular, Sargsyan, until recently, was a citizen of the island state in the Caribbean – Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The request for the availability of other citizenship Sargsyan proposed to submit evidence. After granting available data, he put forward his version.

In particular, he said that many years ago invested in this country (hotel business), after which she passed the share of a member of his family (until the ambassador to the Ambassador to the UK in 2013)

Saint Kitts and Nevis have a program to provide citizenship in exchange for investment. According to Sargsyan, he received citizenship without notice of this. In 2013, he instructed to refuse citizenship until the ambassador destination.

However, when in 2017 he was offered to become president, it turned out that he did not fulfill this assignment. The person who had to solve this question died, Sargsyan wrote a letter to his son (working in the same company) and asked to complete the process.

It turns out that Sargsyan began the process of refusing the citizenship of the island state shortly before the election by the president. And this means that he could not be elected to this post.

“All decrees, including laws, appointments, elections (even the appointment of the premier) – illegal,” writes the publication.

Sargsyan stated that he did not consider himself a citizen of Saint Kitts and Nevis from the moment he asked to freeze citizenship.

The president will most likely return to Armenia, as he may face criminal prosecution on the basis of a fake of documents.
