Australia stopped leasing land for Russian embassy

Australia stopped leasing land that Moscow used to build the embassy building, Russian media reported with reference to the National Capital Administration (NCA).

“After regular consultations and discussions with Russian representatives for many years, the National Capital Department (NCA) notified Russia about its decision to terminate the lease of Bloc 26, section 44 in Yarraluml,” the report said.

The decision to terminate the lease of the new embassy does not affect the existing Russian embassy. It is noted that Russia may submit a new application for consideration in the future. The Russian side has 20 days to clean the leased land. Then she will return to the list of plots available for diplomatic purposes.
