Azerbaijani President: It’s time to abolish Minsk OSCE group

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that it was time to abolish the Minsk group of security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and all the institutions associated with it.

According to the presidential press service, the head of state adopted a delegation headed by the current chairman of the OSCE, Minister of Foreign, European Affairs and Trade of the Maltese Republic, Jan Borgh.

At the meeting, Aliyev emphasized that it was Azerbaijan that initiated the peace process between Baku and Yerevan and the fundamental principles that form the basis of this process, the text of the peace agreement was also prepared and submitted for discussion by Azerbaijan.

The head of state said that the process of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is currently ongoing in order to promote a peaceful agenda.

The President stated that the issue of eliminating the consequences of the military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and the occupation of its lands has been on the OSCE agenda since the creation of this institute, neither this organization, nor the mechanism of the Coin of the Minsk OSCE group did nothing to eliminate the consequences of the conflict. “During these years, the negotiation process conducted by the co -chairs of the Minsk OSCE group also served as the continuation of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. Azerbaijan, due to its will and strength, laid the end of the occupation, ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, the UN Charter . , – emphasized the head of state.

The Minsk OSCE group was created in 1992 with the aim of solving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully and to perform the function of mediation between the parties to the conflict.
