Azerbaijani schoolchildren showed record results at International Olympiad

Azerbaijani schoolchildren won the World Olympiad in Mental Arithmetic Wamas 2022, which took place on June 1 in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt). More than 250 schoolchildren from 19 countries took part in the Olympics.

A team from Azerbaijan showed a phenomenal result. The team has seven champions in categories from 5 to 12 years! This is Ulvi Agazade, Rufiz Abbaszade, Fizuli Jafarov, Heydar Beibutov, Kamal Beibutov, Selina Rzayev, Ilham Rzayev.

The first four places were taken by Atahan Mammedzade, Mikail Mehtiev, Najib Gazakhova and Sofia Dzhafarov, two second places – Aliya Nasirova and Amir Nasirova and one third place – Baddin Gazakhov.

The team of Azerbaijan includes children from 5 to 12 years old. These guys are engaged in mental arithmetic from six months to four years old.

Mental arithmetic is a highly effective brain simulator that develops a high concentration of attention, photographic memory, accelerates analytical abilities, facilitates schooling and increases the child’s self -esteem by acquiring extraordinary ability “Calculation of examples faster than a calculator.”

The youngest champion – Ilham Rzaev – is only 5 years old. In 10 minutes, he correctly decided 95 examples with two-digit numbers (for example, 22+66-11+22). This is not possible for every adult!

The organizer of the Olympiad is the International Association of Mental Arithmetic Schools (Wamas). Wamas conducted annually Olympics act as the main motivator for children, at the same time give impetus in the development of schools and centers of mental arithmetic.

Centers and schools hold their competitions. For example, in the next academic year, the Caspian Cup mental arithmetic Olympics will be held in Baku.
