Baku: decision to withdraw Russian peacekeepers was made by leadership of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation

The decision on the early withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the territory of Azerbaijan was made by the highest leadership of both countries. This was stated by Azerbaijani State Assistant President Azerbaijan Hikmet Gadzhiev.

“The highest leadership of both countries made a decision on the early withdrawal of peacekeepers of the Russian Federation from the territory of our country, temporarily deployed in the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic according to a tripartite statement signed on November 10, 2020,” Gadzhiev said.

According to him, the process has already begun, and the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation take appropriate measures to implement this decision.

It was previously reported that the first composition and military equipment of the peacekeeping contingent left the territory of the Albanian Church of Khudang in the Kelbadzharsky district.

The Russian peacekeeping contingent was temporarily posted in Karabakh following a trilateral statement signed on November 10, 2020 between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia.
