The investigator of the Investigative Department of the State Customs Committee (GTK) of the Nijat Gasymov was accused of embezzlement of a large sum. According to the Haqqın.az correspondent, Gasimov appropriated funds deposited in the criminal case that he investigated.
We are talking about a criminal case against a Georgian citizen, Jaba Dzhabgashvili. Djibgashvili was sentenced by the Baku court on serious crimes to 5 years in prison. In the same trial, by the way, the process was held over the Gasimov himself.
Djibgashvili was arrested on charges of trying to secretly transport 53 thousand dollars that had been available to him through customs, without informing the customs officers of this either verbally or in writing. He was charged under article 206 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code.
The investigation in the criminal case was carried out in the investigative department of the GTK. It was decided to put the money seized from a citizen for a deposit account. It is claimed that investigator Gasimov assigned these funds and spent them on his own needs.
After the secret became clear, Gasimov was fired and criminal against him. The ex-investigator was charged under article 179.3.2 (assignment or embezzlement on a large amount) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. GTK and Djibgashvili were recognized as victims in this case.
Gasimov repented of his deed and said that he had returned all the money. He was sentenced by a court decision in the form of a non -departure subscription.
