US President Joe Biden stated that he had deprived Afghanistan of the status of the main American ally outside NATO, foreign media reported.
“I cancel the definition of Afghanistan as the main ally of the United States outside NATO,” the presidential memorandum for the Secretary of State says.
The United States announced Afghanistan one of its largest allies in July 2012. In August 2021, American troops were withdrawn from the republic.
