Bayramov: Azerbaijan expects real steps from Armenia

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jahun Bayramov took part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS, which was held in Astana.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Jahun Bayramov spoke at a meeting in a limited format. He informed the participants in the meeting about the current situation against the background of new realities in the region after a 44-day war, including issues related to the promotion of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

JAIHUN BIARAMOV said that the completion of the conflict created new opportunities to achieve long -term peace and stability in the region by restoring economic and communication relations. In particular, it was noted that after the opening of the Zangezur corridor, which will serve as an increase in transit capabilities and strengthen the investment environment as a whole, the value of the region will increase. The minister spoke about the large -scale construction works carried out by the government of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories, active work to ensure the return of former forced immigrants to their homes.

During the minister’s speech, it was brought to the attention of the participants in the meeting that Armenia had not yet fully fulfilled tripartite statements, and the Armenian military were not completely withdrawn from the territories of Azerbaijan. It was also noted that the provocations of Armenia were ongoing, and its next military provocation, which began on September 13-14 with an attempt to mine the ways of supplying Azerbaijani forces in the border zone, led to numerous victims.

The Foreign Minister noted that these actions of Armenia undermine efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region. Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan expects real steps from Armenia in the direction of normalizing relations and promoting the negotiation process.
