Bayramov discussed with president of ICRC fate of missing Azerbaijanis

In the framework of the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) by Peter Maurer. This was reported in the foreign policy department of the AR.

The meeting discussed the current state and the prospects for many years of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ICRC. The activities of Azerbaijan and the ICRC on the elimination of the consequences of almost 30-year-old military aggression of Armenia was noted.

The ICRC President announced its willingness to cooperate with Azerbaijan and the work done over the years.

J. Bailers emphasized the importance of continuing relevant work to obtain information about missing persons, including to clarify the fate of about 4,000 Azerbaijanis, missing from the beginning of 1990.

The meeting also discussed the issue of the presence of mines on the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and caused by this humanitarian catastrophe. The parties exchanged views on the possible cooperation of AR and ICRC to eliminate the effects of a mine problem.

Parties also discussed issues related to humanitarian activities and representing mutual interest.
