Berlusconi advocated refusal of Italy from Russian gas

Italy should be abandoned by Russian gas before Moscow can decide on the termination of supplies, according to the former Prime Minister of Italy, the leader of the party “Forward, Italy” Silvio Berlusconi, Russian media write.

In an interview with Il Foglio, Berlusconi, answering the question of supporting calls to the Italian government about the rejection of gas from the Russian Federation, spoke positively. “Of course,” he said, “provided that the conditions for alternative supplies will be created.”

According to the ex-Prime Minister, Rome needs terminals for processing liquefied natural gas, as well as enterprises for the production of energy from waste. He added that the country needs investments in alternative renewable energy sources, including atomic energy projects.
