Borrel: sanctions are not aimed at overthrowing political regime in Russia

Head of the Foreign Ministry of the EU Josep Borrel stated that the sanctions that are entered against Russia are designed to weaken the economy, but they do not carry the goals to change the regime, RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to him, the purpose of sanctions is to make Russia feel the severity of the consequences of the war and strengthen the position of Ukraine at the upcoming negotiations.

He added that the EU sanctions were directed not against the Russian people, but are designed to support international norms.
