According to her, the abbreviation will not undergo changes not only after the accession of six new members, but also after further expansion
The head of the department noted that in negotiations with the Candidate countries to membership in BRICS the question of changing the name of the community never raised.
At a recent summit, BRICS in Johannesburg received an invitation to join Argentina, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. They will join Brix January 1, 2024.
In total, 23 countries submitted official applications for joining the association.
