Britain first tested laser weapons

The Laboratory of Defense Science and Technology of the British Ministry of Defense conducted the first test of powerful laser weapons of directed energy of large-distance (LDEW) at its landfills in Porton Dawn.

Tests included shooting by the UK Dragonfire demonstrator for a number of targets at different distances.

“These tests improve the UK understanding of how high -energy lasers and related technologies can work at a distance and amaze representative goals,” the British government said in a statement.
