Businessmen ask Biden to save duties on goods from China

The US Trading Representative Office received more than 400 requests from the American business about saving tariffs for Chinese goods, reports Reuters.

US Presidential Administration Joe Biden is currently considering options for reducing duties on Chinese imports to contain inflation. However, representatives of various industries are asked to save them. As of the end of Tuesday, more than 400 requests for the maintenance of duties on Chinese goods were submitted to the office of the US trading representative, which complicated Biden’s decision -making. The current tariffs cover Chinese imports worth about $ 370 billion.

According to Karin Jean-Pierre, a White House spokeswoman, “after several weeks of discussions in the administration regarding the reduction of tariffs as a way to hold backing inflation, the Biden team still weighs various strategies.” A similar step can greatly affect American business, so the US president has not yet made a final decision.
