“Byzantine Game of Thrones”: Erdogan first commented on verdict of Imamoglu

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a rally in the city of Mardin for the first time in connection with the sentence of the court mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu, announcing the opposition’s attempts to impose the “Byzantine game of the thrones”, the NTV television channel reports.

“When we look at what was said and written after the announcement of the decision of the court, we laugh at the same time and sad. We are sad when we see attempts to impose our internal discord and our Byzantine game of thrones,” said Erdogan.

According to the Turkish leader, disputes flared up in the country are not connected with the authorities, president or people, but with a sentence against a particular person. He noted that the decision in the case of the Istanbul mayor made only the court of first instance, the trial is ongoing.

“There were many court decisions that we criticized and criticized in the most stringent way. But this does not give the right to insult judges and not recognize the decision of the court. No one can question our commitment to democracy,” Erdogan said.
