Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of US Senate will approve sale of Turkey F-16

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Senate Ben Cardin announced his intention to approve the sale of Turkey F-16 fighters, as soon as the appropriate notice from the White House is received.

“My approval of Turkish’s request to acquire F -16 aircraft depended on the approval of Sweden entry into NATO,” the senator noted, expressing satisfaction with the decision of Ankara to approve Sweden entry into the Alliance.

Cardin assured that the Committee will approve the sale of F-16 of Turkey, as soon as the White House sends an official notification.

The US Senator also noted fears about the foreign policy of Turkey, but said that negotiations between the Biden and Ankara administration are moving into a positive and constructive manner, which instills hope.

The decision of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate and the House of Congress representatives are very important in terms of sales of Turkey of fighters, since it is these committees that send the White House notifications for the sale of weapons to foreign countries and give evaluations to these sales.

The US Congress has 15 days to evaluate and objections after the official notice of the sale of F-16 of Turkey. If there are no objections that the sale will be carried out.

Earlier, the Turkish parliament ratified the protocol of the agreement on Sweden to join NATO. Then the document was published in the official messenger of Turkey signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On the eve of the representative of the White House National Security Council told Anadolu that US President Joe Biden will send an official notification to the F-16 fighter Congress, as soon as the process of ratification of the agreement on Sweden enters into NATO.
