German Chancellor Olaf Sholts congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan by his re -election to the post of head of state.
According to the Directorate for the Relations of the Administration of the President of Turkey, Scholz held a telephone conversation with Erdogan, during which he congratulated the Turkish leader on success in the elections.
Erdogan during the conversation expressed hope for the distant development of relations with Germany in the coming period.
The statement of the press service of the German government, in turn, reported that Scholz invited Erdogan to make a visit to Berlin during a telephone conversation.
Scholz also focused on the presence of close ties between Berlin and Ankara, in particular as partners in NATO.
