Chechnya: non -working men are forced to explain rejection of military service

In Chechnya, employees of the military enlistment offices force unemployed men to write an explanatory one why they refuse to work in power structures or serve in the Ministry of Defense forces. This was reported by “Caucasus. Reals” with reference to a source among Chechen officials.

Men are sent an audio community in which a female voice speaks of Chechen about the need for “urgent filling out a questionnaire for non -working men aged 21 to 49 years.” They need to explain their rejection of service or, conversely, sign documents about readiness. Those who have disability are asked to provide certificates.

In early June, the Chechen authorities reported that more than 8 thousand people went from the republic to the war to Ukraine, 1360 of which are volunteers. In fact, there are almost no real volunteers left: the security forces intimidate local residents, torture and threaten criminal cases.
