As of March 26, less than half of the inhabitants remained in Chernigov, the city is completely destroyed – it is easier to calculate whole houses than destroyed. This was stated by the city head of Chernigov Vladislav Atroashenko at a press conference in Ukraine Media Center Kyiv, Atroxhenko on the air “Rada” channel.
“The city is completely separated. It is easier to count those houses that still survived. More than 200 peaceful people are killed. Now there are 120-130 thousand citizens in Chernigov (from about 285-290 thousand, which were before the war – Ed.). Urban power in place, everyone work, support our army. No one is going to take the city, “the mayor noted.
Atroashenko added that Chernigov in the surrounding environment, the enemy deliberately destroyed the bridge, which joined the city with the Kiev direction.
The city does not have the opportunity to arrange humanitarian corridors, nor take the wounded. Pedestrian bridge under constant cross-shells, transport cargo through it is dangerous because it can fall.
Atroashenko noted that local authorities plan to export seriously universal, which cannot be operated on the spot. Currently we are talking about 44 people (this is the military, and civilian citizens, including three children).
Mayor added that there is no steady electricity in the city, but water is delivered by all available methods, and everything that can be repaired is repaired.
