The US Central Intelligence Directorate (CIA) came to the conclusion that a report prepared in 2016 on the alleged intervention of Russia in the presidential election in favor of Donald Trump was drawn up “in a hurry” and under the excessive influence of the leadership.
As indicated in the report based on the results of the internal audit, the deviations from standard procedures during the preparation of that document were recognized as “anomalous”. In particular, the conclusion was criticized that Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly “with great trust” sought to help Trump’s victory.
CIA noted that such a high level of confidence in the conclusions was based on a single source, while this usually requires confirmation by several independent data.
At the same time, despite procedural violations, the report emphasizes that no one officially disputes the reliability of the collected intelligence.

The accusations of Russian intervention of the US presidential election in 2016 were the reason for the appointment of special prosecutor Robert Müller in 2017. He conducted a large -scale investigation against the election campaign of Donald Trump. For 2.5 years of investigation of evidence sufficient to make charges against Trump, it was not found, and the case was closed.
Later, during the Presidistance of Trump, the then Minister of Justice William Barr appointed John Darem a special prosecutor to study the origins of the “Russian investigation”. As part of his work, two people admitted to falsify evidence to compromise Trump.
