CSTO announced “trends” in Caucasus, which “inspire cautious optimism”

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO) Stanislav Zasyu expressed hope for the favorable development of the situation in the South Caucasus.

“If we evaluate the situation in the Caucasian region in a large way, those trends that are being formed there now inspire cautious optimism,” said the head of the CSTO in an interview with the Belarusian media.

Zasa noted that the states of the region are aimed at achieving peace – “at the signing of a peace treaty, legal execution of existing borders, unlocking transport links”.

“But, on the other hand, the situation is very difficult, primarily on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. There are almost daily shootings. Yesterday we were there, held an event (CSTO summit in Yerevan), and there were still shootings on the border” , – said the Secretary General of the CSTO.
