Death of tourists in volcano in Russia: survivors are waiting for rescuers

In Russia, 8 people died when climbing the volcano Klyuchevskaya hill about 4 750 m high in Kamchatka. The group included 10 tourists and 2 guides. 4 people are waiting for rescuers who are now rising to them, Russian media write.

It is known that on August 30, a group of tourists began climbing the volcano. Of these, 9 people began climbing the top, the rest remained in the camp at an altitude of 3.3 thousand m.

5 climbers died when they fell at a mark of about 4,150 m. Later, several more people died from hypothermia. Rescuers learned about the tragedy on September 3, one of the guides contacted them.

The four surviving members of the group are at different heights: two – by 4.1 thousand m, two more – by 3.3 thousand m. Three contacted relatives and said that they were healthy and awaiting rescuers in House of volcanologists.

Now several groups of rescuers are sent to the victims. One group was taken to the volcano through the air, the other began the way with the foot of the mountain. They could not come to the rescue earlier due to weather conditions.
