Egypt invited Israel and Hamas to negotiate

Egypt invited Israel, Hamas and the Palestinian administration to conduct separate negotiations aimed at strengthening the cease-fire regime, which put the end of the 11-day war between Israel and Hamas, reports AP with reference to the representative of Egyptian intelligence. Negotiations will also focus on accelerating the recovery process in Gaza.

“We strive for a long-term truce that will make further discussions and, perhaps, direct negotiations,” the official said.

According to him, negotiations can begin next week, and Israel gave its original approval, but the final agenda is still in development. He noted that talking about the possible release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel in exchange for Israelis held by Hamas. Both questions were discussed with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during his yesterday’s visit.
