Embassy of Iran opened in Riyadh

In the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, on June 6, after a seven-year break, the Iranian embassy resumed work. This was reported by Iri’s guest evidence.

The Ceremony was attended by the deputy head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ali Reza Bigdel.

on June 7, the opening of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic in Gidd is planned.

The decision to resume the activities of the diplomatic mission was made in order to complete the process of implementing bilateral agreements to normalize Iranian-Saudi relations.

The authorities of Saudi Arabia on January 2, 2016 carried out death sentences of 47 accused of terrorism and incitement to it. Among the executed ones, despite Iran’s protests, was the famous Shiite preacher Sheikh Nimr al-Remyr.

The incident caused a sharply negative reaction in Tehran. In protest, the demonstrators broke into the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and the building of the Kingdom General Consulate in the city of Mashhead.

Tehran and Riyadh agreed to restore diplomatic relations in March after two years of negotiations through the mediation of Iraq and Oman.

It is reported that Saudi Arabia is also preparing to open its diplomatic missions in Iran.
