Emergency disconnection of electricity at BUSHER NPP in Iran

Emergency power outage occurred at Busheter nuclear power plant in the south of Iran, reports Press TV TV channel.

According to the TV channel, the work of NPPs stopped three days ago, which led to a lack of electricity generation in the amount of 1000 megawatts. To eliminate the technical malfunction, it will take several days, at this time the operation of the NPP will be suspended.

The construction of power units of the BUSHER NPP is considered the largest Russian-Iranian project. The first unit of the nuclear power plant, which was completed with the participation of the Russian Federation, was connected to the National Energy System of Iran in September 2011. Russia supplies Iran nuclear fuel required for the operation of the reactor of the first block. Embassy of Russia in Iran on April 29, 2020 last reported on the delivery of a fresh batch of fuel in Iran.
