Environmental issues discussed in liberated territories

A regular meeting of the working group on environmental issues of the Interdepartmental Center, functioning under the Coordination Headquarters, created to resolve issues in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, was held.

According to haqqin.az, in order to coordinate the work on the organization of environmental issues on the liberated lands, the working group on environmental issues with the involvement of representatives of the relevant state bodies conducts a preliminary assessment of damage to the environment and natural resources in the liberated territories, considers the restoration of biodiversity, management of water resources, conducts environmental monitoring, restoration of the hydrometeorological network, monitoring and reassessment of available mineral resources, development of appropriate thematic and topographic maps, works on identifying areas that are actually suitable for sowing, restoring affected lands, planning appropriate resources for agricultural areas, providing food security in the occupied territories.

The relevant structures have begun to implement the group’s action plan. Thus, to assess the ecological situation in the regions liberated from the occupation, comprehensive monitoring and control of transboundary rivers is carried out.

The group carries out its activities in the format of close contacts and exchange of information with other working groups of the Interdepartmental Center.

The head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev is in charge of the coordination headquarters, created in accordance with the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated November 24, 2020.
