Erdogan: Ankara does not have a goal of overthrow Assad

Ankara does not aim to overthrow the Syrian leader Bashar al -Assad, advocates her territorial integrity and prefers diplomacy to solve existing problems. Such a statement was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan upon returning from Lviv, where tripartite negotiations with the participation of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Secretary General of the UN Antoniu Gutherrisha were held on Thursday. “We do not have such a problem as the overthrow or confusion of Assad. All the steps that we are now taking in Syria, including coordination with Russia, are aimed at combating terrorism in areas from the eastern and western parts of the Euphrates to the Mediterranean. I always say that one of the most important components of democracy is the presence of a strong opposition. We, unfortunately, do not have it, this is a problem. We are not in vain that we can come unexpectedly one night, and this will be done when necessary. Turkey has no claims to other people’s lands, it stands for the territorial integrity of Syria, ”said Erdogan.

According to the Turkish leader, he supports contacts on Syria with Russian colleague Vladimir Putin.
