This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking on Monday at the Center for the Center for the Aerospace Company Tusaş in the Kakhramanazan area in Ankara.
The latest developments of the Turkish military aircraft industry, including: Hürjet aircraft, ATAK-2 helicopter, ANKA-3 UAVs and a fifth-generation aircraft, were presented as part of the event.
According to Erdogan, the Fifth generation Turkish military aircraft was called Kaan.
“After the adoption of the KAAN aircraft, Turkey will be one of the five countries of the world producing fifth generation aircraft,” the politician emphasized.
The President noted that in recent years, many major defense projects have been implemented in Turkey, and the Altay tank, the flagship of the Navy, the TCG Anadolu, the Gökbey, the TCG ALTAY, have been presented over the past weeks.
“Thanks to 20 years of effort, the level of import substitution of Turkey in the defense sector reached 80 percent. However, we are not going to dwell on the achieved. New initiatives will follow,” the politician assured.
The Head of State noted that the development of Turkish defense companies are exported to dozens of countries of the world. “We are talking about a wide list of products: from the Bayraktar TB -2 UPC to Anka,” Erdogan explained.
The President further attracted attention to the project of the supersonic training aircraft Hürjet Patriotic Development. “Hürjet will soon be adopted by the Turkish Armed Forces. This plane will be deployed on board the Navy flagship – TCG Anadolu,” the president said.
