European Commission about Russian tourists

The European Commission is ready to impose new sanctions against Russia, but the ban on entry for Russian tourists is not in its competence. This was stated by the official representative of the commission Arianna Podesta at a briefing in Brussels.

“We have already adopted seven blocks of sanctions against Russia, and we are ready to consider new sanctions. However, the issue of visas is the competence of the EU countries, and we do not comment on individual offers and future sanctions until they are adopted,” she said.

The official was supported by the representative of the European Commission Anita Hipper. She noted that the EU visa code does not provide for the possibility of suspension or termination of short-term visas to anyone.
