Ex-head of Armenian police was charged with money laundering

The former head of the Armenian police, Vladimir Gasparyan, was charged with the abuse of official authority. Armenian media written about it.

Today, December 9, the country’s anti-corruption committee completed a preliminary investigation into the criminal case against Vladimir Gasparyan, his wife Susanna Gasparyan, his mother Angela Gasparyan, as well as his son Vladimir, his daughter Angelina and his mother-in-law Yegush Galstyan.

The investigation found that the ex-head of the police illegally acquired property, which significantly exceeds the income of his family members, in particular, expensive homes and cars, which he legalized in various ways to hide the crime, registering them on the names of their loved ones.

According to the charges, the wife of Vladimir Gasparyan – Susanna – appointed for the police police of the Ministry of Defense in 2010-2011, was not to serve, did not fulfill his duties, but her spouse, using his position, paid her through her subordinates more than 17 millions of drams as wages.

In addition, during the passage of service in the Armenian police in 2011-2018, Susanna Gasparyan improperly performed his official duties and did not go to work. At the same time, Vladimir Gasparyan did not take measures stipulated against it.

It turned out that the daughter of Vladimir Gasparyan – Angelina – appointed in the police for the police, never appeared at the service site in 2015-2018, did not fulfill any duties, but she was paid 9 million drams as a salary.

In addition, the preliminary investigation confirmed that V.Gasparyan, which occupied in the period 1982-2018. Exceptionally public posts, owned, used and ordered property obtained as a result of criminal frauds in the period 2000-2018.

In particular, his family members received a legal income of more than 353 million drams in 1995-2021.

Preliminary investigation has shown that Vladimir Gasparyan legalized property and income received by criminal methods by purchasing property, construction, utility costs, registration of property belonging to him in the name of its loved ones. Thus, the ex-officer legalized about 2 billion drams.

Gasparyan were charged with the above criminal acts. The criminal case continues.
