Famous orientalist and Islamic scholar Alexei Malashenko died

In the 72nd year of life, the Soviet and Russian political scientist, orientalist, Islamic scholar Alexei Malashenko died. This was reported on Facebook by political analyst Arkady Dubnov.

“Alexei Malashenko died. Today. Skor -heater. A brilliant scientist, outstanding Islamic schola, a decent person, just a friend,” Dubnov wrote.

Alexey Malashenko is a former consultant of the program “Religion, Society and Security” in the Moscow Center of Carnegie. In different years, he was a professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, taught at the Higher School of Economics, was a leading researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and headed the religion sector at the Institute of Oriental Studies. Alexei Malashenko also worked as an invited professor at the University of Collgaite (USA). Author and editor of 18 books in Russian, English, French and Arabic, among them “Islam in Central Asia”, “Islamic alternative and Islamist project”, “Islam for Russia”, “My Islam”.
