Famous Russian politician was detained: for “discredit” of army

In Yekaterinburg on Wednesday morning, February 24, one of the famous regional politicians in Russia, the former mayor of this city, Yevgeny Roizman, was detained. In the premises of his private museum “The House of the Nevyansk Icon” and the Fund, searches began, the assistant of Roizman Leila Huseynova told the local edition of E1.ru

Roizman himself told the same publication that the case was instituted against him under Part 3 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code – the public distribution of “fakes” about the Russian army, it is considered in Moscow. The Roizman Foundation confirmed the Russian media about searches and reported that similar measures are carried out in the apartment of an opposition policy.

According to the Mash Telegram channel, Roizman was detained by police special forces.

The Russian BBC service notes that after the arrest of Ilya Yashin Roizman, he remained almost the last famous Russian politician who opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine and remained at large. He has already been fined three times in administrative cases for “discrediting the RF Armed Forces.” Roizman consistently declared his anti -war position, including in social networks, and said that he was aware of threats, but did not intend to leave Russia. Now Roizman can face up to five years in prison.
