Fictive vaccines in Azerbaijan caused an epidemic in USA

Brought in 2021 from Azerbaijan to Pennsylvania, a rescue dog gave a positive result for a strain of rabies. This fact caused serious concern among local authorities, because the rabies in the United States was completely eradicated back in 2007, writes the publication The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The infected dog was among 34 animals that arrived in the United States through Chicago International Airport in 2021. All of them had vaccinations and were recognized by inspectors at the airport healthy.

But soon a five -month -old mixed dog from Azerbaijan began to experience the symptoms of rabies, including excessive salivation and aggression. She was immediately delivered to the veterinarian, where she began to convuls her, because of which she was strewn.

The Pennsylvania Health Department examined the animal, confirming that it has a rabies virus supported by dogs (DMRVV). This strain of rabies was eradicated in the United States back in 2007. Subsequent tests showed that the dog was not vaccinated against rabies.

Having received a notification of the case of rabies, the Department of Health began to search for contacts to find people who were in contact with the dog. It was found that 15 people – an airport employee, seven people in the house of a dog, three employees of the pet store and four veterinary employees – were exposed to infection. All of them were recommended post -Exhibition prevention of rabies.

In the USA, checks of all animals that have recently arrived in the country have begun. The researchers found that eight animals were unnecessary or not vaccinated, and were quarantined for four to six months. All eight dogs that did not meet the requirements of the vaccine arrived from Azerbaijan and were vaccinated in the same veterinary clinic of this country.

Representatives of the US Department reached this clinic in Azerbaijan. It turned out that a young employee was responsible for the vaccination of animals. When examining the workplace, bottles with rabies were found, in which 25-33% of the drug remained. American experts concluded that the infection arose as a result of insufficient animal vaccination.

After this story, last year, the US Diseases Control and Prevention Center introduced a ban on the import of dogs from other countries in order to prevent the spread of rabies. A temporary ban on the import of dogs from 113 countries has been introduced – it is noted that this measure is necessary to ensure the health and safety of dogs imported into the US territory, as well as to protect the public health from re -getting rabies virus in the United States.
