First Turkish Earth observation satellite spent year in orbit

The first Turkish Earth observation satellite Imece completed the first year of stay in space, successfully fulfilling his mission. This was announced on the social network X Minister of Industry and Technologies of Turkey Mehmet Fatikh Kajir.

Imece satellite is able to take pictures using an electron-optical chamber of high resolution (about 700 km).

The device was developed by engineers of the Research Institute of Space Technologies of Turkey (Tübi̇tak Uzay).

Imece was launched into orbit April 15, 2023.

Kajir emphasized that all the key components of IMECE are developed in Turkey, including an electron-optical camera.

“Thanks to the launch of the IMEce satellite, Turkey proved its competence in the field of space technology,” the minister wrote.

According to him, in July, Türkiye plans to bring to orbit the first domestic communication satellite Türksat 6A. “Thus, we will become one of the 11 countries of the world that can develop our own communications satellites,” he said.
