For which you can bring Nazarbayev to justice

Nursultan Nazarbayev can only be held accountable for state treason, but not for other crimes. About this, as Orda.kz writes, said Minister of Justice Kanat Musin.

“According to the Constitution, the President of Kazakhstan is held accountable only for state treason, but not for other crimes,” said Minister Musin, responding to reporters in the corridors of the Senate.

According to the head of the Ministry of Justice, now it is impossible to initiate a matter against the ex-president and hold him accountable.

Musina was also asked if this norm extends to the Nazarbayev family, for example, to daughters or sons -in -law.

“I can’t say this, the constitution says only about the president, the norm does not apply to their wives and family members. They are not protected under the law on the First President,” Musin said.

Also, according to the minister, the 373 article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be lost, which provides for the punishment for “a public insult and other encroachment on the honor and dignity of the first president, the desecration of his images, the obstruction of the legal activity of Elbasa”.

“There is another article on insulting the president of the country, it will remain, and there will be no separate (articles) about Elbasy. There will be a general article in the Criminal Code, which provides for responsibility for insulting the honor and dignity of the president. There will be no separate,” the head said Ministry of Justice.
