Foreign Minister Of Belarus Met With Chairman Of PRC In Fields Of SCO Meeting

The Foreign Minister of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov, as part of a visit to Beijing, took part in a meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of the SCO member states with the chairman of the People’s People’s Republic of SI Jinping.

During the event, the participants exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of the SCO, including in the context of the upcoming SCO summit in September 2025 at the level of the heads of state.

The Chairman of the PRC informed about the priorities of the Chinese chairmanship in the SCO, and also evaluated the current international situation.

Earlier, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported that on July 15-18, Ryzhenkov will make working visits to the People’s Republic of China, the Kingdom of Thailand and the Laosa People’s Democratic Republic. This is the first participation of Belarus in a meeting of SMID SCO in the PRC in the status of a full -fledged member of the organization.

It was reported that during the meeting the parties will discuss the organizational and substantial aspects of preparing the upcoming meeting of the Council of the Heads of the SCO Member States, planned for holding in September 2025 in September 2025, and will also exchange views on multifaceted cooperation as part of the organization in the context of the actual international and regional agenda.

In Thailand, Maxim Ryzhenkov will negotiate with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as meetings with representatives of the country’s political establishment. The focus is the prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the field of trade, investment, transport, tourism, education and healthcare. As part of the visit, it is expected to sign a significant intergovernmental document aimed at expanding cooperation in the economic and investment spheres.

In Laos, meetings with representatives of the country’s top leadership and expanded negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs are planned in Laos. It is planned to pay special attention to the practical aspects of the further strengthening of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, the development of humanitarian ties and contacts through business structures.

One of the key results will be the signing of an agreement on simplifying the visa regime, which will greatly facilitate the trips of citizens of both countries and will contribute to the development of tourism, business and cultural exchanges.
