of the former Senator from Karachay-Cherkessia, Rauf Arashukov and his father, ex-adviser to Gazprom Interregiongaz, Raul Arashukov, was sentenced to life imprisonment of the murder of two people and the creation of a criminal community.
The jury considered proven that Arashukov Jr. organized the murders of the deputy chairman of the youth movement “Adyge-Hase” Aslan Zhukov and the adviser to the head of Karachay-Cherkessia Fral Shebzukhov, doing this on behalf of his father.
According to the prosecution, Arashukov Sr., who since the 1990s led various divisions of Interregiongaz, organized a criminal community that was engaged in the theft of gas. According to law enforcement officers, the amount of theft amounted to more than 4.4 billion rubles.
Arashukovs in the last word declared their innocence and asked the court for justice.
Rauf and Raul Arashukov have been under arrest since 2019. Arashukova Jr., who at that time served as a senator from Karachay-Cherkessia, was detained on January 30 directly at a meeting of the Federation Council.
Later on the same day it became known about the detention of Arashukov Sr.. Together with him, his nephew Ruslan Arashukov (general director of Gazprom Gas Distribution Astrakhan and Gazprom Interregiongaz Astrakhan) was sent to custody, undergoing the same case.
