France conducts military exercises in space for first time

For the first time in the history of the country, French military personnel have begun exercises in space, according to the local newspaper Les Echos.

The exercise is named AsterX after the French satellite Asterix, which was launched in 1965. They are also attended by the US Space Force and the German space agencies. The maneuvers will continue until Friday, March 12.

The exercise will test the response capabilities of the relevant units to potentially dangerous events, such as the detection of threatening objects or spy satellites in outer space.

The media reminds that the French Space Force Command was created in 2019. In the period 2019-2025. its funding should reach $ 5 billion, and the staff – 500 people.
