France’s presidential candidate believes that country should get out of NATO

Deputy of the French Parliament, presidential candidate in the upcoming election of the President Jean-Luke Melanchon believes that France should leave the NATO to restore its independence in military issues, the LE MONDE newspaper reports.

“We have to leave NATO. I want, first of all, to restore our military sovereignty. France, which has the forces of nuclear deterrence, should be independent and not depend on arms production issues from the United States.”

According to the candidate, anti-Russian policies do not respond to French interests, and such a course is dangerous and absurd.

“Why should we protect the borders of Ukraine? I want France to be free from unions and supported alternative globalization paths,” he stressed.
