An International Scientific Conference called “Naftalan is a source of synergy of health and tourism. New realities in the region” started in Naphthalan at the initiative of the city’s executive branch and during the joint organization of the State Agency for Tourism, the Ministry of Health. The event partner was PMD Hospitality.
The main goal of the international scientific conference is to assess the role and potential of Naftalan as a center of resort and tourism in the region.
Experts in the field of tourism, healthcare, and the sanatorium-resort sphere from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Germany, as well as representatives of state bodies, state and public organizations.

According to the chairman of the State Agency for Tourism Fuad Nagiyev, Naphthalan is an important direction from the point of view of the development of both regional and health tourism. He noted that the city is underway to create a new infrastructure, restoration and reconstruction of the existing.
Nagiyev emphasized that in order to increase international competitiveness naphthalane in the field of medical tourism, important points are the organization of additional tourist services, an increase in the range of resorts. Marking the proximity of Naftalan to the tourist complex under construction in Sugushan, Fuad Nagiyev said that design work was underway on the development of the tourist corridor Naftalan – Sugovushan.
Vugar Novruzov, the head of the executive branch of Naftalan, spoke about the therapeutic and tourist potential of the city, known in the world with its uniqueness. Novruzov noted that local hotels and health centers complies with international standards can serve more than 3,400 people a day.
The special representative of the president of Azerbaijan Emin Huseynov informed about the large-scale restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, noting that the rich tourism potential of Karabakh can play an important role in the restoration of the region.
Huseynov stated the presence of potential for various types of tourism in Karabakh, and that ensuring a large -scale return of citizens, creating a base and social infrastructure will play a fundamental role in the use of this potential.
Then the conference continued with panel discussions. Participants got acquainted with products from Naphthalan oil, including the master class Sabir Chopuroglu, the only artist drawing in the world.
, as part of the conference, a memorandum of cooperation between the Azerbaijani Association for the support of health and thermal tourism and the German Association of Medicine and Health was signed.
